High Voltage, Pulse Type D.C. Holiday Detector
The Tinker & Rasor Model AP/W Holiday Detector supplies a range of output voltages suitable for the inspection of almost all protective coatings including thin film epoxies, vinyls, polyethylenes, etc. and thicker coatings such as hot applied coal tar, asphalt and heavy mastic materials. It is adaptable for use on both large and small diameter pipe as well as flat surfaces when such surfaces are coated with a high electrical resistant material and the surface beneath the coating is electrically conductive. It operates well on damp surfaces, so is desirable where humid conditions prevail.
Interchangeable PowerPak plug-in pulse transformers each develop six fixed output voltages, which are selected through externally mounted switch. The PowerPaks becomes an integral part of the wand assembly and can be interchanged in a matter of seconds.
Power to the instrument is furnished by a sealed, rechargeable, nickel cadmium battery which requires no maintenance other than recharging. A single charge is suitable for a full day’s work.
Weighing only eight pounds, the detector can be comfortably belt-mounted or carried by the handle. When faults or foreign particles in the protective coating are encountered by the inspection electrode, a distinctive audible signal heard.
Typical applications are checking coatings on pipelines (internal & external), tanks, concrete, sewers, and manholes.
The Model APW comes complete in kit form, including:
*Includes one of four available PowerPaks
*Electrode choices are:
You may choose one electrode per instrument, in the size ranges listed. Other sizes are available for additional cost.

Carrying Case
The carrying case is included with the Model AP/W as well as high voltage holiday detectors, Models APS and AP.
The carrying case is made of light resin materials and is weather and dust sealed. Custom foam inserts keep the instrument and all components safe and secure during shipping and handling.
The inline wheels and padded handles make for easy mobility, and its streamlined size makes it easy to store on the truck or in the shop. The latches are strong but easy to open, with a push button lock on each. The case has molded lock catches for your own padlock or other locking mechanism.
