Zeriol Float Coat is a non-toxic, biodegradable, highly effective rust inhibiting compound which is capable of floating on ballast water and will deposit itself as a protective coating on adjacent tank surfaces during ballasting and de-ballasting operations.
Zeriol Float Coat is formulated to be used as provided. The initial application of Zeriol Float Coat should be sufficient to provide a one inch (39.37 mm) layer of the inhibitor floating on the surface of the water. A thicker layer may be necessary if the tanks are severely rusted. To ensure complete coverage of the tank’s bottom and overhead plating, Zeriol Float Coat should be sprayed or pumped on to those areas. The remaining compound shall be added into the tank through manholes or access hatches. The operator should run a minimum of three ballasting cycles with a one hour pause between the end of one cycle and the beginning of the next. A properly treated tank should have a minimum of ¼ inch (6.35 mm) layer of compound remains on the surface of the ballast water when the tank is almost full. Treated tanks should be ballasted at least once every three months to ensure re-application of the compound to areas which have become bare due to rust scale falling off and taking absorbed compound with it.
Zeriol Float Coat is available in UN approved 5 gallon pails, 55 gallon drums and bulk quantities.
*Special sizes available upon request.
